How it Works
Understanding Veneers
Veneers are a type of dental prosthesis that are designed to cover up your smile’s aesthetic flaws. They are made to fit over your existing teeth and replace the front surfaces with a durable, tooth-colored porcelain material. Once veneers are attached to your teeth, you’ll have a bright, shapely, and even smile. Call (740) 936-3083 today to learn more about veneers and how they can improve the shape and color of your front teeth!
What To Expect
The Veneer Placement Process
Placing veneers usually takes just two appointments at Shine Dental. First, you’ll come in to have your teeth prepared. Dr. Miller will clean and numb your mouth, then use specialized tools to remove a very thin layer of enamel from each tooth that will be treated. This enamel must be removed to ensure a perfect fit.
Impressions will be taken of your teeth after they are prepared, and this information will be sent to a dental lab where your veneers will be made. In the meantime, we’ll give you a set of temporary veneers to wear until your permanent set arrives. Once we receive your permanent veneers, Dr. Miller will check each one to make sure that it fits properly. When everything looks perfect, your veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth with dental cement.

The Price of Treatment
How Much Do Veneers Cost?
The cost of dental veneers usually varies depending on how many teeth you’re treating, your oral health, and other factors. It can be quite difficult to provide an accurate cost estimate without examining your teeth during a consultation. The best way to find out how much veneers will cost is to come in for an appointment with Dr. Miller. After examining your mouth and discussing your smile goals, she can provide you with an accurate estimate for the cost of your procedure.
Dental & Overall Health
Will Veneers Hurt My Teeth?
Veneers will not affect your oral health. While removing enamel will weaken your teeth somewhat, once the veneers are placed they will protect this enamel and strengthen your teeth.
It’s important to note that the veneers process is not reversible. You will need to replace your veneers over time if they break or become damaged. With proper care, veneers will not hurt your teeth and your smile will remain bright and strong for years to come.

The Benefits of Veneers
Veneers offer a multitude of benefits that make them a preferred choice for many patients. First, they provide a natural tooth appearance. Dr. Miller meticulously designs each veneer to match the color, shape, and size of your existing teeth, ensuring a seamless and natural look.
Secondly, veneers are stain-resistant. Unlike natural teeth, porcelain veneers resist stains from coffee, tea, and even cigarette smoke, so you can maintain a bright and vibrant smile for years.
Third, veneers offer a stronger and more aesthetic alternative to other dental treatments. They can correct a wide range of cosmetic issues, including discolored, worn down, chipped, broken, misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth. They can also close gaps between teeth.
Finally, veneers are a less intrusive option than other dental procedures. They require less shaping than crowns and still offer a stronger, more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
How To Care For Your New Veneers
Taking care of your veneers is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Regular brushing and flossing are essential to maintain your oral health. While veneers are stain-resistant, maintaining good oral hygiene can keep your whole mouth healthy and your smile looking its best.
It's also important to avoid hard foods that could chip or damage the veneers. Remember, while veneers are durable, they aren't indestructible.
Regular dental check-ups are also crucial. Dr. Miller and her team at Shine Dental can monitor your veneers and overall oral health, ensuring any potential issues are detected and addressed early.
Does Dental Insurance Cover Veneers?
Dental insurance coverage for veneers varies widely depending on your specific plan. Some insurance companies view veneers as a purely cosmetic procedure and, therefore, do not provide coverage. Others may offer partial coverage if the veneers are necessary for structural reasons or to improve your dental health.
It's important to check with your insurance provider to understand what is covered under your plan. At Shine Dental, our team can assist you in understanding your insurance benefits and provide a detailed cost estimate before proceeding with the treatment.
